YOUNG AND CONFUSED PERIOD OF 2008-2010
Khairi
This was how I perceived my life early in recovery. Basically, I was in a confused state of differentiating my wants and my needs. I wanted everything that’s good but with repercussions, this results in the total loss of myself. I was spiritually, emotionally, physically and psychologically bankrupt. Only in admitting my weakness, I did learn how to differentiate and provide more for my needs rather than my wants.
Suggested Donation: $600
Art ID: A-90
Dimensions: 64.5 x 54.5 cm

RETALIATION PERIOD OF 2008-2010
Khairi
Early in my recovery years, unskilled and with no experience to face life at life's terms, I struggled day and night, fighting my demons in order to cope with my recovery.
Suggested Donation: $300
Art ID: A-91
Dimensions: 32.5 x 45 cm

LIFE FROM ABOVE PERIOD OF 2010-2011
Khairi
Giving up my passion as a tower crane operator was hard. I loved the job I was doing. However, the long hours of isolation developed into a sense of loneliness and boredom. Though it was my passion, it was also the source of my downward spiral to many of my lapses and relapses.
Suggested Donation: $300
Art ID: A-92
Dimensions: 32.5 x 45 cm
REBEL AT HEART PERIOD OF 2010-2014
Khairi
I was inspired by the rebel in me to rage against the system that led me into becoming the addict I was. I was in total contempt of the fact that my disease of addiction was considered an offence and ended with me being imprisoned multiple times and years instead of being treated for the disease I have.
Suggested Donation: $600
Art ID: A-93
Dimensions: 53.5 x 69 cm

A DARK PASSION (MASQUERADE) PERIOD OF 2010-2014
Khairi
Looking back at my active addiction days, this was how deep I was into my darkness. I was in no control of myself, manipulating everyone around me, wearing a mask and being someone I am not, just to have my way and get wasted. I was twisted and totally condemned of everything that was happening around me. Basically, I was living a lie back then, a masquerade.
Suggested Donation: $600
Art ID: A-94
Dimensions: 56.5 x 73.5 cm
INTO THE UNKNOWN PERIOD OF 2014-2019
Khairi
It describes my journey in the early years of recovery, into unexplored and unchartered territories whichwere alien to me. It was like a jigsaw puzzle of musical notes that needs to be recognized by its own set of rules and when put together nicely, will produced a beautiful and disciplined harmony of sound.
Suggested Donation: $300
Art ID: A-95
Dimensions: 32.5 x 45 cm

THE NOW EARLY 2023
Khairi
This is how I look at my life now where the battle waging inside my head still rages on and it will never stop until I am six feet under. Although I see red most of the time and am surrounded by the heat of whatever life is throwing at me, I try hard not to let it affect and infect me into becoming what I was.
Suggested Donation: $600
Art ID: A-96
Dimensions: 71.5 x 59 cm
What Do Doors Do?
Marla Bendini
The work 'What Do Doors Do?' is a page from my self-care art journal between July-Aug 2019. Being trans, femme and queer isn't easy and I've encountered much discrimination, rejection and trauma in my journey. They say when God closes one door, They open another. Through recovery, I finally let go of the closed doors my grief and self-pity held on to for so long, and open myself to new doors that are more rewarding, more fulfilling and joyous! We do recover!

Powerlessness (2023)
Anonymous
The mixed media painting explores the perennial concept of being powerless in the first half of Step 1 of the historical 12 steps of AA, which is inspired by the principles in the Oxford Group. To execute, this I researched images and asked for help from my then concept of my " Higher Power". I was like a puppet being manipulated left ,right and center, so to speak by the Evil one -addiction. Who knows when addiction begins , who knows what makes it start. Some days it's there, alive inside my mind, Addiction uses me at will . It drives me to despair, It takes me by surprises and makes me lose control , Try to deny it , And try to pretend , But addiction won't let me go, Once, I've been possessed. (Adapted from lyrics by Glenn Slater )

Magical Blooms (2023)
Melanie Gooi
Making friends with anxieties has allowed me to create an imaginary landscape with “Magical Blooms”. The initial sketch of my anxiety manifested as a solitary mythical flower, but by acknowledging its presence, I harnessed its power to fuel my artistic expression. Through this process, a series of fantastical landscapes, resembling delicate blooms, emerged. I found solace in turning discomfort into beauty, proving that even the most unsettling emotions can be transformed into something magical.
